Attention 11th Grade Students

Grade 11 students will be given the opportunity to take the ACT on February 27, 2018 at no cost to the student.  Each public and charter school with grade 11 is expected to administer this assessment.  However, parents or guardians may request that their student not participate in grade 11 ACT test administration.  Make up date is April 3, 2018.  Click here for more information.

*Check your college’s website for institutional and/or private scholarships available. You must be accepted for admission (YOU MUST FIRST APPLY!) to the college in order to get scholarships!

**Also check with your church and with your parents’ place of employment for scholarships they might offer. Nucor, for example, has an excellent scholarship, as does Wal-Mart.


NEA Tournament Scholarship

A $1,000 award for one male and one female senior basketball player whose team plays in the NEA tournament. Deadline is December 15. Applications were emailed to all seniors, paper copies available in the counselor’s office.


AXA Achievement Scholarship

$2,000 award for seniors who demonstrate ambition and drive; determination to set and reach goals; respect for self, family and community; and the ability to succeed in college are encouraged to apply online by December 15 deadline. Only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted, so early application is the key:

Burger King Scholarship

Seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA may apply online for this $1,000 award. Recipients are selected based on their GPA, work experience, extracurricular activities and/or community service. The deadline is December 15. The website is:


American Legion Oratorical Contest - $2,000 Scholarship

Seniors will prepare an oral presentation/speech on a topic related to our U.S. Constitution and present the speech first to a local American Legion group, then at a state-level competition on March 3, where prizes are awarded, and opportunities to advance to the national level competition in Indiana with additional cash prizes. GE-Ronald Reagan Foundation Scholarship

National program for promising young leaders that will award $10,000 scholarships to 20 university-bound seniors who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Minimum 3.0 GPA to apply. Deadline is January 4. Apply online at

Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Essay Scholarship

A $1,000 award for a senior who has participated in high school sports. No minimum GPA or ACT requirements. Submit a one-page essay about how sports participation has made a positive impact on your life. Deadline is January 31. Information available at

DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Scholarships

A national program open to any senior that is a U.S. citizen planning to attend any college in the U.S. Several scholarship programs are available and award amounts vary. Deadline is February 15. The website is:

Creative & Performing Arts Scholarship Competitions

Sponsored by the Thea Foundation, open to any Arkansas senior in the areas of visual arts, creative writing, performing arts, performance poetry, fashion design and film making. GPA, test scores, and majoring in the arts are not a requirement! Awards range from $2,000 - $4,000. Deadlines begin February 28. Register online:

Life Lessons Scholarship (deceased parent or guardian)

Qualified entrants who submit essays or videos about how the death of a parent or guardian impacted their lives are eligible for $1,000 - $10,000 in scholarship money. Online applications accepted beginning February 1, deadline will be March 1. Go to


R. Preston Woodruff $1,000 Scholarship -- RANDOM Drawing

Seniors planning to attend any college in Arkansas can apply online for a $1,000 random drawing scholarship from the Arkansas Student Loan Authority. Those students drawn as random winners can compete for a RENEWABLE $1000 scholarship by submitting an essay ($4,000 over 4 years).
