 *Check your college’s website for institutional and/or private scholarships available. You must be accepted for admission (YOU MUST FIRST APPLY!) to the college in order to get scholarships!

 **Also check with your church and with your parents’ place of employment for scholarships they might offer. Nucor, for example, has an excellent scholarship, as does Wal-Mart.


R. Preston Woodruff $1,000 Scholarship -- RANDOM Drawing
Seniors planning to attend any college in Arkansas can apply online for a $1,000 random drawing scholarship from the Arkansas Student Loan Authority. Those students drawn as random winners can compete for a RENEWABLE $1000 scholarship by submitting an essay ($4,000 over 4 years). Deadline to enter is April 1. Apply online https://www.asla.info/scholarships

Denso Manufacturing Scholarship
For any Mississippi county senior, the award could range from $500 - $1,000, and is based on academicachievement and career goals. Must plan to attend college in Arkansas. Applications available in the counselor’s office and were emailed to all seniors and teachers. Deadline to apply is March 30.

Stephens Scholarship
Seniors from a Delta county who demonstrate financial need and the potential for college success. No minimum GPA or test score requirements. Applications were emailed to all seniors and OHS teachers. Deadline is March 16.

Arkansas Community Foundation Scholarships

* $500 Erma Bandy Scholarship for any OHS senior

* $1,000 Gary D. Holmes Smile Scholarship for any Mississippi county senior in athletics

* $1,000 Gertrude E. Waldrup Scholarship for any female Mississippi county senior with financial need

I AM QUEEN Scholarship
For African-American females with at least a 2.5 GPA and documented community service hours. Sponsored by OHS alumni and staff member Ms. Tyneisha Collins. Applications were emailed to all seniors and teachers. Deadline is April 6.

Woodson Foundation Scholarship
For OHS seniors only, sponsored by former OHS graduate Courtney Woodson. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA and extracurricular activity participation. Applications were emailed to all seniors and teachers. Deadline is April 16.

Benjamin Phillips Scholarship
For OHS Seniors only, a $300 award in memory of former OHS coach Benjamin “Tip” Phillips. No minimum GPA or test score requirements. Application was emailed to all seniors and teachers. Deadline is April 20.

 Harold and Bruce Ohlendorf Scholarship
For OHS seniors only, must have a 2.75 GPA or above. Priority will go to those at a 4-year college, but 2-year schools will be considered. Attending out-of-state college is OK. Applications were emailed to all seniors and teachers. Deadline is April 6.

Junior Auxiliary of Osceola Scholarship
A $1,000 award for seniors from OHS and RHS. Must have 20 or above on the ACT and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Must attend college in Arkansas. Applications were emailed to all seniors and teachers. Deadline to apply is April 9.

Osceola Rotary Ed Albritton Memorial Scholarship
Two letters of recommendation required, along with a 200-300 word essay. Applications were emailed to all seniors and teachers. Deadline to apply is April 13.

Mandy Coats Memorial Scholarship
Must be an active member of a church, be of high moral character, exhibit a strong work ethic, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Personal essay required, and must have two references, and one must be from the pastor or minister of your church. Deadline is April 1. AAA/Centennial Bank Scholar-Athlete Program
A one-time award of $1,000 for student-athletes with at least 21 on the ACT and GPA of 3.0 or higher who demonstrate athletic achievement and community service. Deadline is March 28. Applications available online: http://members.ahsaa.org/public/userfiles/Scholarship/cenbankform1718.pdf

State-wide program for any senior, one-time award of at least $1,000, up to $5,000. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA and scored 19 or higher on the ACT. Deadline is April 2. Paper applications available in the counselor’s office or online:  http://www.theaaea.org/page/ASPMASchAwards

Arkansas School Board Scholarship
Seniors with a parent/guardian on a school board in Arkansas are eligible to apply for a $650 ASBA scholarship. Applications were emailed to all seniors and teachers and are also available online at www.arsba.org. Deadline is April 2.

Education Administrator Scholarship (AAEA)
Seniors with a parent/guardian that is a member of the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators (AAEA) are eligible to apply for a $1,000 award. Applications were emailed to all seniors and teachers and are also available online:  http://www.theaaea.org/?page=GarrisonScholarship. Deadline is April 13.

State of Arkansas Scholarships and Grants
Complete one online application (the YOUniversal application) for programs such as the Academic Challenge Scholarship, the Governor’s Scholars Program, the GO Opportunities Grant, and many other state-funded programs. Visit www.adhe.edu to create an account and apply. Deadlines vary, most are June 1.
