STAR Academy/ Alex Haley Museum
The students at STAR Academy had an enriching experience exploring the Alex Haley Museum and Interpretive Center in Henning, TN! The visit was a fascinating journey through history, with a blend of education and inspiration.
The museum offered a captivating array of attractions, including a theater, a delightful gift shop, and thought-provoking exhibits. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the chance to step into the childhood home of the legendary Alex Haley, a true literary icon.
Our students were immersed in the legacy of a remarkable individual who played a significant role in shaping our cultural landscape. It's heartening to see the curiosity and enthusiasm of our young minds as they absorb the rich history presented at the museum.

Spring Break
Osceola School District will be out for Spring Break March 13-22, 2024.
Students will return to school on Monday, March 25, 2024.

STAR Academy/ Black History Month Celebration
The staff and students at STAR Academy are recognizing the culture as a celebration of Black History Month. We are doing several activities throughout the month.
One of our initiatives for Black History Month is to wear Afrocentric style of clothing every Tuesday.

Parent Teacher Conference
Osceola School District will have Parent Teacher Conference on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Conferences will begin at 10:00am, with the last conference scheduled at 5:30pm. Schools will break for lunch at the following times:
ALE - 12:00-12:30
North - 1:00-1:30
CSE - 1:30-2:00
OMS - 2:00-2:30

As a reminder, there will be no school on Thursday, February 15, Only Osceola High School will attend on February 16, and no school on Monday, February 19, 2024 for Presidents' Day.

STAR Academy students will take their mid year diagnostic testing on Thursday and Friday!
This data is important to our staff and administration because it helps us make instructional decisions to ensure that students are learning the content.
Special Note: parents please make sure that students get plenty of rest and arrive at school on time.

STAR Academy/2nd Quarter Incentive Field Trip
The staff and students at STAR Academy would like to thank the sponsors and our stakeholders for making this field trip possible. Our students attended a live play at the Playhouse on the Square and then finished the day with a lovely lunch at Chow Time in Memphis, TN. We would really like to send a special thank you to the District transportation department for making revisions or adjustments to ensure our students got to sit down and enjoy their meal.

STAR Academy/ MLK Day of Service
The STAR Academy students wanted to give back to their community by delivering Care baskets to the elderly on MLK Service Day. The students ultimate goal was to do something for others in memory of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As Dr. Martin Luther King once spoke, " If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way!" #brickbybrick

How to be prepared for the freezing Temps that are coming!
*Make sure your student is dressed for the cold. If they do not have a coat, reach out
to the school counselor.
*Our bus drivers will come in early to make sure the heat is working and to warm
buses

Inclement Weather Notice
As we move through this winter season we want to make sure that everyone stays informed of any closings we may have due inclement weather. This year we no longer have AMI days so if the school is closed due to inclement weather it will have to be made up.
Closing announcements will be posted on the Osceola School District facebook page, Kait8, Fox 13, News Channel 3, and Action New 5.

STAR Academy/ partnership with City of Osceola
STAR Academy students volunteered and help with the "Good Fellows" holiday food box event sponsored by the City of Osceola.
Our students packed 252 boxes with food to be passed out to the community. We would like to thank the City of Osceola for asking our students to help with their community service project. We love helping others by giving back to our community.
