North Elementary hosted a Learning Walk

North Elementary hosted a Learning Walk. A Learning Walk is a brief classroom visit utilizing a researched-based tool that provides principals and teachers opportunities to reflect on what students are learning, strategies, student interaction with the content, and student engagement. It was facilitated by Ms. Courtney Rayburn who is a Senior Specialist at NIET (National Institute for Excellence in Teaching). Principal Pam Smith, Assistant Principal/Pre-K Director Charlotte Brown, Superintendent Dr. Toriano Green, Ms. Clara Davis from Solution Tree, and two teachers Shuana Henderson and Camee Stevenson plus their Pre-K Director Ms. Lisa McGhee from Southside Batesville were all in attendance. The Learning Walks were engaged with a student-focused, strengths-based lens. Three Pre-K classrooms were observed.  They observed the strong conscious discipline culture at North Elementary, saw evidence of goals the Pre-K team set for students, heard about curriculum planning process, and how the transition, communication, and collaboration between Pre-K and Kindergarten works.
