It’s almost been a week since the students of OSD had an all access pass to the multicultural, multitalented singer, author, speaker.
The speaker and author Alex Boyé provided significant insights from his most recent book, "You Are a 10"! To illustrate the effects of low self-worth and how this affects students' mental health. During his lecture, Mr. Boyè reached out to the students by using scenarios and examples.
After Boyé addressed issues like the value of attending class, peer acceptance, and how success begins internally, every student exited the assembly feeling like a 10.
According to Dr. Renata Bryant, assistant superintendent of OSD, "When Mr. Boyé started his presentation, the students were a little closed off and limited, but as he progressed, the students responded by participating during scenarios and asking questions. It was priceless to see the students rush to the floor to snap selfies with Mr. Boyé at the conclusion.
Dr. Toriano Green, the OSD superintendent, shared “The truth is OSD students ARE A TEN, the Osceola School district IS A TEN!!” He also underlined the necessity for all faculty to see students' academic performance holistically and to offer support for their mental health, physical health, and educational needs.
