Osceola – Today began a two-day Career and Technical Education tour for the 8th through 12th grade students at the Osceola School district. Be Pro Be Proud is an organization that helps students in six different states as far as New Mexico and of course right here in Arkansas.

Career coach Mary Gaston has collaborated with Be Pro Be Proud to ensure our students are experiencing the professional work environment of the skilled workforce. “Our goal within the district is to facilitate a learning environment that includes all knowledgeable experts that will place our students in a personalized and familiar environment.   We want all our students to be empowered to choose a meaningful career through the education and knowledge we are providing today” Mary Gaston expresses. Career and Technical Education helps students identify the best pathway towards a career in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources.

Our students deserve high-wage and stable careers without feeling the need to compromise their natural interests and skills many times that are developed during their high school careers says Superintendent Toriano Green. He goes on to say , “ Our state and even our nation needs professionals who are passionate about serving our communities, locally as well as on a national level. The industries present in this tour will show how an interest in artificial intelligence,  machines and mathematics are used to help professionals in this skilled trade and technical field.

This is second year Be Pro Be Proud has come to the Osceola School District, whereas before this was hosted by the ANC Technical center. Over the next two days students will view different assimilations on several industries within the skilled trade and technical workforce.

The objective of OSD’s Career Coach concerning students who do not take an interest in a four-year degree after graduation is to introduce students to hands on work experiences in hopes to inspire students to attend the ANC Tech center in Blytheville or the a technical program of their choice. The national associate of manufactures report that Skilled Trade Workers Are Aging Fast the Gap Is Widening. As the students of OSD prepare for high school graduation, we want our students who are not interested in professions requiring a minimum of a 4-year degree to be a part of the workforce of skilled professionals.  Most of these in demand professions only require at two-year degree where there top 10% of those professionals make upwards of $100,000 and a median income of $47,000.
