The Osceola School District is showing meaningful academic improvement, with several schools making significant gains in the latest Arkansas school and district letter grades.
The district’s overall letter grade improved from a D to a C, reflecting progress across the district. Osceola Middle School made one of the most notable gains, moving from an F to a C.
The district’s elementary schools also demonstrated improvement. Both North Elementary School and Carroll Smith Elementary School increased their letter grades from an F to a D.
The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education accountability system evaluates schools using multiple measures, including achievement, growth and readiness. District letter grades are calculated using data from schools across the district.
Superintendent Toshiba Pugh said the improved grades are an encouraging indication of the work taking place throughout the district.
“This improvement is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of our students, teachers, administrators and families. Moving from a D to a C as a district, along with the significant gains at our individual schools, shows that our efforts are making a difference. We are proud of the progress we have made, but we also recognize that there is still work to do. Our focus will remain on providing the support, resources and opportunities our students need to continue moving forward.”
The gains represent an important step for the Osceola School District as it continues working to strengthen academic outcomes and provide a high-quality education for every student.
“This progress belongs to our entire Seminole family,” Pugh said. “We will continue to build on this momentum and remain focused on doing what is best for our students every day.”
Osceola School District Superintendent Toshiba Pugh is a longtime member of the district, having served in multiple roles throughout her 23-year career with Osceola.
