OHS/Track and Field Drelyn Haymon, OHS Senior, earned the High Point Award at the Track and Field meet in Manila on April 24, 2023. He also qualified for State in 5 events. Drelyn will compete in the State Track and Field meet in 5 events: 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 4 x 100, 4 x 200, and long jump. The State Track meet will be held on May 2, 2023 in Prescott, Arkansas. Congratulations Drelyn on your tremendous accomplishments! #brickbybrick

OHS/Nucor Campus Visit Nucor Steel representatives met with the Juniors and Seniors on April 24 in the OHS cafeteria to discuss career opportunities. Informing them of the various positions available, with or without a college degree, and about working in the steel industry. Nucor partners with ANC to create a better future for our students. #brickbybrick

11th graders awarded Scholarships / OHS Two 11th graders given scholarships while walking away with the 2022-2023 Youth leadership award! Winners Kadan Newson, BreAnn Fultz-Foster, Damia Grice, and Alyssa Crafton created a service project that would help their High school! These students led a club all school year to help students learn how to operate machines like drones & sublimation printers. All while attending monthly leadership workshops these students presented a grant proposal (to purchase machines) and partnered with East Initiative to create more learning experiences for the students at OHS! Kadan and Alyssa went on to enter individual essays during this competition that placed them in 2nd place, each winning college scholarships! Please congratulate these students when you see them! OHS/2023 Senior Prom Continued.... The 2023 Osceola High School Senior prom was held Saturday, April 15 at the Chamber of Commerce in the Harold Ohlendorf Civic Center. The prom was a true reflection of the Class of 2023! Combining past and present, the Senior walk was held at the beautiful Courthouse, located in the historic downtown square in Osceola. Creating an awe inspiring background to showcase the glorious gowns and tuxedos donned by the young men and women in attendance. Kadan Newson, OHS Junior, was the photographer for the senior walk. This year’s theme was “Under the Stars” but nothing shown brighter than the attendees themselves. Congratulation to Tony McNeal and Azyan Thomas on being crowned Prom King and Queen! #brickbybrick

OHS/Band Scholarship Na’sheunna Thompson, OHS Senior, has been awarded a Wilberforce University Band Scholarship in the amount of $40,000.00. Miss Thompson auditioned for the 2023 – 2024 Wilberforce University “Hounds of the Sound” Marching Band earlier this year. In addition to her audition results, Na’Sheunna’s exceptional accomplishments with the Osceola High School Marching Band culminated in her being selected to receive this scholarship. OHS/Senior Walk The Class of 2023 Prom Senior walk will be held at 6:30 PM at the Osceola Courthouse on Saturday, April 15, if the weather permits. In the event of inclement weather the Senior walk will be held at the OHS Arena at 6:30 PM. #brickbybrick

OHS/Black Alumni Society Seniors and Juniors from Osceola High School were special guests of the Black Alumni Society (BAS) at the University of Arkansas on April 13, 2023. Students enjoyed a campus tour, diversity activities, and dinner with BAS and their guest speaker DaniLeigh. Thank you U of A for the invite and thank you for being a Seminole partner! #brickbybrick

OHS/Annual Flag Burning Ceremony Osceola High School AFJROTC and Rivercrest Army JROTC united to dispose of unserviceable United States Flags. The annual US Flag Burning Ceremony is held at the Courthouse in Osceola. Both Cadet Corps participated in this honorable ceremony and were shown how to properly discard worn US Flags. Once all the Cadets were in place, the Colors were presented by a combined Color Guard from both schools. They proceeded to recite the "Flag Retirement Speech" while ceremoniously cutting the US Flag into smaller pieces. Each piece, starting with the Blue Field of Stars, were placed into the fire and burned, the ashes were then buried to continue to serve the United States of America. After the completion of the ceremony, the combined Color Guard retired the colors. Both JROTC Units collect worn US & Arkansas Flags to be discarded each year, feel free to drop off any unserviceable flag, during school hours, to the JROTC instructor for Osceola High School or Rivercrest High School. #brickbybrick

OHS/Track and Field Dreyln Haymon, OHS Senior, qualifies for the State Track and Field meet to be held on May 2, 2023 in Prescott, Arkansas. Dreyln placed first in the 200 meter dash, at a meet in Marion, Arkansas, with an outstanding time of 22.95. Drelyn has also been named one of the top 25 200 meter athletes in the State of Arkansas. Congratulations Dreyln on your many accomplishments! #brickbybrick

OHS/Youth Leadership Team Congratulations to the OHS 11th grade Youth Leadership Team on receiving top honors today at the county-wide meeting and competition at ANC! The leadership program includes 6 different school districts in Mississippi County. The OHS team members are Kadan Newson, BreAnn Fultz-Foster, Damia Grice and Alyssa Crafton They received top place for their group presentation today, which is a first for Osceola! Two of the members were recognized for their individual essays: Kadan Newson, 2nd place and Alyssa Crafton, 3rd place. Today was the finale of the year-long program.
