OHS/Annual Flag Burning Ceremony
Osceola High School AFJROTC and Rivercrest Army JROTC united to dispose of unserviceable United States Flags. The annual US Flag Burning Ceremony is held at the Courthouse in Osceola. Both Cadet Corps participated in this honorable ceremony and were shown how to properly discard worn US Flags.
Once all the Cadets were in place, the Colors were presented by a combined Color Guard from both schools. They proceeded to recite the "Flag Retirement Speech" while ceremoniously cutting the US Flag into smaller pieces.
Each piece, starting with the Blue Field of Stars, were placed into the fire and burned, the ashes were then buried to continue to serve the United States of America. After the completion of the ceremony, the combined Color Guard retired the colors.
Both JROTC Units collect worn US & Arkansas Flags to be discarded each year, feel free to drop off any unserviceable flag, during school hours, to the JROTC instructor for Osceola High School or Rivercrest High School.
