Our kindergarten students are getting ready to blast off into first grade as they explore their next big adventure. This exciting experience gives them a chance to visit, learn, and begin the transition into their new grade level.

We’re celebrating the 100th Day of School at Carroll Smith Elementary on March 17th!
Students can join the fun by wearing a “100 Days” shirt or dressing up like they’re 100 years old!
Starting in the 2025–2026 school year, Arkansas 3rd graders must meet the state reading standard to be promoted to 4th grade. A Level 2 or higher on the ATLAS ELA Summative Assessment defines proficiency.
If a student does not meet the standard on the first attempt, additional support and a retake opportunity will be provided. Our goal is to ensure every child is reading at a level that supports long-term academic success.
Families can help by reading together daily, asking questions about what your child is learning, encouraging writing, and staying in communication with your child’s teacher. Working together, we can support every student’s literacy success!

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Friday, February 27, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Please remember that there will be no school for students on this day. We look forward to seeing you!
It’s Book Fair Time at CSE! Stop by and explore a great selection of books your students will love. Every purchase helps support our school.

Families may qualify for the Arkansas Literacy Tutoring Grant, which provides $1,500 to use toward state-approved online or in-person literacy tutoring services. If your student qualifies, a letter was sent home yesterday.

Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and approvals will be emailed within about 14 days. Funds must be used by June 30, 2026. For questions about eligibility, contact ade.tutoring@ade.arkansas.gov.

Today, CSE held its first quarter awards ceremony. Students were recognized for their achievements, including Principal's Honor Roll, Honor Roll, Good Citizenship, and Perfect Attendance. Congratulations to our scholars on this great accomplishment! Keep up the good work!
