OHS/ASU Tour To understand more about Arkansas State University's computer science and engineering department, OHS EAST students recently paid a visit to the school. They engaged in a variety of activities during the trip that gave them a view into several academic specialties and the prospective yearly earnings that go along with them. OHS/ECON Kinesthetic Learning Mrs. Jennifer Young, OHS Civics/Econ teacher, allowed her 9th grade students to utilize realistic experiences on "How to Write a Check." The students were tasked with replicating a check and properly completing the information required. Mrs. Young's use of kinesthetic learning in the classroom bolsters cognitive, social, and emotional development, thus enhancing the scholar's brain capacity to retain information. OHS is dedicated to cultivating leaders, encouraging intercommunication, and providing candid feedback. #brickbybrick

OHS/Agri Teacher Honored The 96th State FFA convention of the Arkansas FFA Association was held in Hot Springs in April. Mr. Wayne Tillman, OHS Agriculture Teacher, received the Honorary State FFA degree for 30+ years of service to the FFA students in the state of Arkansas. OHS/Graduate Information Thursday, May 11 -- Senior awards assembly & baccalaureate practice at 8:30 am in the OHS auditorium (CAPS AND GOWNS WILL BE HANDED OUT AFTER PRACTICE) Please no headscarf, do-rags, spaghetti straps, house shoes, pajamas, or inappropriately short shorts and extra holy jeans. Graduates have been asked to do a walkthrough at North Elementary following practice dressed in cap and gown as inspiration to the kindergarten graduates. OHS/School Lunch Hero Day “Not all Superheroes wear capes, some wear aprons.” OHS would like to thank our School Lunch Heroes for all of their hard work and dedication. School Lunch Hero Day gives us a chance to highlight the difference our school nutrition professionals make in our scholars lives. The OHS cafeteria team has to adhere to strict nutritional standards while preparing healthy meals for our scholars and navigating student food allergies/medical conditions. Arkansas school districts are Constitutionally required to post their current millage rate on the annual school election ballot each year, and voters can vote “For Tax” or “Against Tax”.  If the District is not trying to change the millage, the vote is immaterial.  If it passes it stays the same, and if it fails it remains the same as it was.  If a district’s millage does not change, an increase or decrease in your property assessment value is the only thing that would affect the property taxes you owe. #brickbybrick
