CSE/Incident
We want to inform you of an incident at Carroll Smith Elementary School today. A student was found with a toy gun on campus. The School Resource officer along with the police department were contacted. No students were in danger and no threats were made.
While we are relieved this was not a real firearm, it serves an important reminder of the times we live in. Toy guns can look real. Not only can they cause panic, they can put the person holding the “toy” in danger if it is perceived to be a real firearm.
We at Osceola School District take all safety concerns seriously and will respond swiftly. Being
vigilant and keeping communication lines open will help keep our schools safe.

OMS/Teacher of the Month
Osceola Middle School 6th grade teacher, Ms. Shapria Smith (pictured in the middle), is being recognized as teacher of the month for the month of January. She is currently teaching 6th grade Science. Ms. Smith works hard to engage her students in being active learners. She also makes sure she builds a great level of respect and rapport with her scholars. During the Special Call meeting on January 25, 2024 Osceola School Board appointed Mr. Charles Webster as Interim Superintendent until further notice.
In the coming weeks Mr. Webster will hold several meetings to inform the district how the work of providing students with the best education possible will continue.

Osceola School Board members attended The Arkansas School Board Association Conference in December where Jacqueline Baker was presented The Platinum Award for attaining at least 400 hours of continuing education, and for providing superlative leadership to Osceola School Board and the Arkansas School Board Association.

Band Parent Meeting

CSE/i-Ready
CSE students will take their i-Ready Winter Diagnostic beginning Wednesday, January 24th and Thursday, January 25th. Please ensure that your child is here each day for testing. Your child can even earn Seminole Bucks for extra recess time and treats when they come to school both days for testing, when they arrive on time for testing, and when they are engaged throughout their testing session.
